Daniel Coy Short, 46, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 21, 1977 in Mt. Carmel, the son of Joy (Short) Treece. He married Shauna Hortin on September 18, 1999 and they had thirty years together.
Coy was a very hard worker at any and every job he tackled. He enjoyed being outdoors, working with his hands, and being a help to others. Coy's daughter and granddaughters were the center of his world, and the part of his life he was the proudest of. Shantel and the girls always knew they could count on him when they needed some help. He was proud of his role as "Poppy". Coy was a volunteer with the VFW Military Honor Guard. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
