Ruth E. McFarland, 96, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Wabash General Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on December 4, 1927, in Albion, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Emily Madge (Kincheloe) Schofield. She married Charles McFarland on November 1, 1947 and together they enjoyed forty-six years of marriage until his passing on January 20, 1994.
Ruth was a homemaker in the truest sense of the word; she spent her entire life making a home that was warm, welcoming, and filled with unconditional love. She was an excellent cook whose love language was family recipes, and her chicken soup and penchant for adding her secret ingredient to her grandchildren's favorite dishes became cherished family traditions.
