Margarette June Knight, 92, of Mount Carmel, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at her home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on February 24, 1932 in Philelphia, Mississippi, the daughter of John and Mary Ann (Tomes) Burkes. She married Robert "Red" Knight on December 22, 1951 and together they enjoyed fifty-eight years of marriage before his passing on April 20, 2010.
June enjoyed the simple things in life and was most proud of her family, especially her granddaughter and great grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed working crossword puzzles and listening to music. June had a love for animals especially her three cats. She was a member of Heartland Worship Center and was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She will be missed by her family and friends.
