William A. "Bill" Schafer, 83, of Allendale, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at the Villas of Holly Brook in Mount Carmel. He was born on September 22, 1940 at home in Allendale, Illinois, the son of Christian Harvey and Anna Wave (Sparks) Schafer. He graduated from Allendale High School, went on to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Oakland City University and his Masters from Eastern University. Bill married Crystal Barrett on June 26, 1966 and together they enjoyed fifty-seven years of marriage.
Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He devoted his first years teaching in Haubstadt, Indiana, Lawrenceville High School where he taught for many years and also worked at Vincennes University. Bill loved to travel to various glass conventions and always looked forward to making new friends. Having a family chowder in Allendale, was one of Bill's favorite activities.
