On August 1, 2024, at River Oaks Health Campus in Princeton, Indiana, Sandra "Sandy" Gibson went home to be with her Lord and Savior, and to be reunited with her family. She was born September 29, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri, and in 1951 was adopted from the St. Louis Children's Orphanage by Dwight and Helen Hughey of Mount Carmel, Illinois. Sandy felt so blessed to have been given such a Christian home with the most loving and supportive parents.
Sandy grew up in Mount Carmel, and was very involved in many school, music, church and 4H activities. She graduated from Mount Carmel High School as a proud member of the class of 1968. She later attained a bachelor's degree in applied behavioral science and worked toward her master's degree. After high school, Sandy was named Miss Wabash County.
In 1969, Sandy married Randy Gibson of Albion, Illinois, and later divorced but to that union a child, Jonathan Shad Gibson, was born in 1972. Shad passed away at the age of 37. Sandy greatly misse
